Black Girl Playing Flute Painting

Product Description

Murali means 'flute' and dhara means 'to hold' and thus Lord Krishna is lovingly named Muralidharai.e. one who holds flute. The Flute is His favourite and He always keeps it with Him. This painting symbolizes that one must become devoid of desires with no crookedness as is the straight and hollow flute in order to let the sublime sweet Love of God flow through it.

Story of the Painting

This painting shows Lord Krishna sitting on the elephant in the midst of the nature playing the mesmerizing tune that captivates all beings.

The gopikas or the cowherd maidens of Gokulam were always filled with prema and bhaktifor Lord Krishna and considered Him as their companion and the most precious treasure. The ecstasy and the Supreme bliss they derived from merely seeking Krishna, they did not get from any other source. Unmindful of the world, upon hearing the sound of Krishna's flute,  they sneak away from their households and families to the forest to dance with their Lord which was like a plunge in the Ocean of Bliss.

Traditional Art of Orissa

Pattachitra - a Sanskrit word, for the style of Hand Painting that originated in Orissa in 12 century B.C.,  i.e. more than 3000 years ago. It started when artists of Orissa, or Oriya Painters, started making Chitra (i.e. painting) on a Patta (i.e. palm leaf or canvas) as religious offering to temples. These paintings mostly show religious stories, deities and daily life events of people from that period using rich colorful application & creative motifs and designs. From canvas to colours, everything in Pattachitra paintings is prepared by hands of craftsman.
